Lauren is a clinical psychologist, author and Registered Yoga Teacher as well as a mindfulness instructor. Her children’s mindfulness book, Visiting Feelings, won the 2013 Mom’s Choice Gold and 2014 Nautilus Silver Awards (www.visitingfeelings.com). She consults to schools, parents, and non-profits on how mind-body practices can help youth learn to self-regulate and has presented at Kripalu and the National Kids Yoga Conference as well as locally. Bringing the body into psychotherapy, Lauren helps her teen and adult psychotherapy clients develop interoceptive awareness so they can get out of their heads and into the wisdom of their bodies. With a passion for service, Lauren chairs the Haiti Committee for Go Give Yoga, a non-profit that teaches yoga and mindfulness to children and communities living in extreme poverty. Her two sons, ages 18 and 20, provide Lauren ample opportunity to practice responding rather than reacting. Involved since its formative stages, Lauren was the creative force behind the acronym for MINDS (Mindfulness in DC-area Schools).
