Elisabeth (Liz) Liptak brings extensive experience in nonprofit management in the education sector to Minds, Inc. Most recently, she worked at the International Dyslexia Association, where she led their reading standards initiative that included the development of an accreditation program for universities and a teacher certification program. She previously served as the executive director of the Washington Literacy Center, an adult and family literacy nonprofit that provided evidence-based reading programs to underserved populations in DC. During her tenure, the organization created after-school literacy programs for children in grades pre-K-3 in Wards 1, 7 and 8. As a researcher for a U.S. Department of Education grant at the Krasnow Institute of Neuroscience at George Mason University, she conducted reading assessments and taught school-based reading interventions. Before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, she held senior marketing and communications positions in the publishing industry in New York City for Institutional Investor and John Wiley & Sons. She holds a B.A. in political science from Bucknell University and a M.A. in communications from Georgetown University. She is also a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) and trained in iRest meditation Levels I and II.
